Ingrid Romero, Obi Obadike and David Kimmerle relinquish WBFF pro-card status

Just as the WBFF gave pro-cards to IFBB competitors such as Monica Brant and Lee Priest, a WBFF pro-card was also awarded to NPC bikini competitor Ingrid Romero. This occurred at the 2011 Arnold Amateur with much surprise. It seemed a little unusual that a NPC competior was given a pro-card from another organization she had no affiliation with, but que sera, sera.

As a new WBFF Pro, congratulations were in order for Romero. She continued to compete in the WBFF World Championships and win second place with a $4000 prize purse. Although she has a short competition career with the WBFF, she is leaving the organization.

 IFPA Pro International, Kansas City: FBB Corynne Pero’s pro debut is a triumph

Corynne Cooper Pero is the winner of the IFPA Pro International in the female bodybuilding division.

The Mr. Olympia is a huge festivity, but it was not the only bodybuilding event taking place over the weekend. The International Fitness & Physique Association (IFPA) Pro International stage was set for natural competitor Corynne Cooper Pero. Pero began her contest prep far in advance, 182 days in fact, to prepare for her pro show début. The weeks were long, but the progress immeasurable with a glorious outcome.

For those who support and love Jay Cutler, there was no doubt that he would be five-time Mr. Olympia, but that was before Phil “The Gift” Heath stepped on stage. Although both athletes were in prime shape, Heath showed a physique that was meant for the title of Mr. Olympia. There were other athletes on stage also, but it took only a second to know who this showdown was between.

Branch Warren tears quadriceps tendon, out of the Olympia

Branch Warren is out of the 2012 Mr. Olympia lineup because of a torn quadriceps tendon.

Branch Warren, known for his muscle density and extreme workouts, is injured and will not be in the Olympia lineup. The injury did not take place in the gym, but while getting into a car in Atlanta, Georgia.  Warren was there as a guest poser over the weekend.

Bodybuilding 101: Sleep is not for the weak

I often hear people use the phrase “sleep is for weak” when someone is tired, or because sleep is put off for an activity that has to be done. Unfortunately, that thought process is a gross misunderstanding of why sleep is so important. Granted, not everyone gets eight hours of sleep a night, but without sleep, your body can not run at its optimum level. If you think sleep is for the weak, think again.

Schwarzenegger and Shriver separate…WOW!!!

Arnold Schwarzenegger, wife Maria Shriver separate after 25 years

I woke up this morning to learn that  Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver have separated after 25 years of marriage. It surprised me;  I mean  it really surprised me.

I’m not sure why though. In this era,  marriage is no longer a sanctity that lasts forever. It’s not that I don’t believe it can’t last; I just know the statistics are certainly against it. WOW!!! is all I can say.

It’s not like I knew the Governator or his wife, but I can’t  help but  feel a little sad by the situation.  Although their formal statement did not mention divorce, I wonder if  it is imminent?  I will keep my fingers crossed that I’m wrong.
