Confessions of being “scarily fit.” WTF’s that supposed to mean?

Yesterday, while scrolling through the billion facebook pages of my friends I came along this statement on one of my friends walls “Do you plan on getting scarily fit?”  I later looked back and this person had added the link to an amazing physique of a female bodybuilder.  First of all let me say it’s obvious this athlete is not natural but that’s not the point of this post.  If someone wants to argue with me about the details of drugs later;  be my guest because I do love a good fight.

This comment stopped me in my tracks. It’s okay in our culture to be morbidly obese but being a bodybuilder is “scary?”   I understand the mainstream has a difficult time seeing a woman  or man who has great musculature but this person has spent hours upon hours training and dieting to get that way.  Your average person doesn’t realize these ladies and men don’t always look like this either.  So they’re “scarily fit” for a couple of days and then very fit in the off season.  On the other hand, you have a person with a butt  so wide you could park a car in the shadow of their ass and they’re talking trash about a competitor’s build? Puleeeeez…

So this picture below is socially acceptable and the ladies above are “scarily fit?”  WTF…
